How do you do you feature sets?

Anything goes really. No self promo posts. General discussion about poetry/gigs/the scene etc. and especially if you've got any questions.

How do you do you feature sets?

Feature sets are the kind bread and butter of the spoken word scene. The standard is 15 minutes, sometimes 10, for places like Passionate Tongues or The Dan, it's half an hour.

Curious to hear people's thoughts on how they construct their sets? How much new stuff, how much old stuff do you do? Do you do something different over a longer set, longer pieces, merge things together? Are there only some things you can do when featuring? What's beyond the feature slot?

Always worth doing new stuff along with the old favourites. I don't like to repeat myself too much! But a great thing about features is you get more space to perform longer poems that you couldn't normally do - and the trick there is to work out how to get the audience settled for the long haul.
